Embedded Media: It’s Time!

April 10, 2010 in Site Change Notifications by Edward Brownrigg

Peeps;

Another tweak to the site for you – Embedded media. To put it simply you can now add videos, pictures and the like to your posts pretty much anywhere in the site. I know for a fact the following sites are supported;

YouTube
Blip.tv
Vimeo
DailyMotion
Flickr
Hulu
Viddler
Qik
Revision3
Photobucket
Scribd
Wordpress.tv
and it’s perfectly possible that others would work too. Let’s take a youtube example.
You simply add the link for the content you want to add into the post and you’re done. So using the below screenshot you would just take the link in the address bar and paste that into the post.
Go hunting round the site and you’ll find a little gem from Kammy . . .
Enjoy!

Changing Your Avatar

March 17, 2010 in Site Change Notifications by Edward Brownrigg

Hi All;

Real head scratcher this one! For now I’ve had to admit defeat on this and call in the help of a bit of third party software. Follow these steps and you can customise your avatar to your hearts content!

1 – Go to http://en.gravatar.com/
2 – Register on there.
3 – Upload the photo you want to use to your new Gravatar profile
4 – Come back here and check.

If you’ve done it right, you’ll have a shiny new Avatar photo thingy.

Cheers

New features for you: Links and Group Document Handling

March 17, 2010 in Site Change Notifications by Edward Brownrigg

Well, based on your feedback I think it’s safe to say that the new site is working well for you!

I wanted to let you know about a couple of new features that have been incorporated for you – Namely the addition of rich media links and the ability to work on documents as a group.

Rich media linking essentially means you can link out to the web and bring content right into the BRC site from pretty much any source. Up at the top of the screen, you’ll see a new tab for ‘Links’ that looks something like this;

See it up at the top right there? Sweet. I’ve stuck a quick link in as a tester so you can see what that looks like in action.

Group documents is an online collaboration and document sharing tool which means that any of you can upload a document either to be shared amongst all of us or for us all to edit. I was thinking of BRC rankings and tournament draws when I thought of this but there’s probably a million uses for this.

Each group now has a place for documents which looks like the screengrab below.

Upload stuff into here and you can make it available to any or all members of the group to view and to edit.

That’s all for now chaps.

Cheers

The all new BRC site is here.

March 7, 2010 in Site Change Notifications by Edward Brownrigg

Welcome to our new home.

It’s been a while in the making but the new home of the BRC is here. The new site still has some way to go until it’s fully finished but the spangling new features available for players are very welcome indeed. Specifically, they are welcome to The Barracuda who can rest a bit easier now this is ready and rely on the rest of you muppets to update your profile once in a while!

Enjoy the new site and I’ll see you inside.
